Assessing Ground Support of Plastic Pipes Using Ultrasound

چکیده

The ability to detect early signs of failure in buried pipe infrastructure is necessary facilitate the continued use ageing for delivery society’s essential services and move beyond disruptive expensive reactive maintenance repair. This paper reports detailed experiments on in-pipe ultrasound techniques assessment ground conditions around plastic pipes. Two sets ultrasonic experiment soil are presented: (1) existence, shape, dimension void, (2) water content soil. technique shown be capable detecting filled voids assessing support, critical indicators failure. requires as transmission media hence naturally suited application operational distribution systems. work represents an important advance condition pipes, demonstrates practical capability technique, which progression towards proactive maintenance, offering cost service improvements.
